The Spiritual Gift: Hanukkah Gifts
Whether you spell it Hanukkah, Channukah, Hannukah, Chanukah, or Chanukkah,Hanukkah gifts remind us to say “Thank you.” In our generation, the spiritually weakest of all, we need more physical reminders to inspire gratitude within us.
Traditionally only money or "Hanukkah gelt" was given, but nowadays,
Hanukkah gift giving
has become an important way to celebrate Channukah.

What is the Purpose of Hanukkah Candles?
When we feel that we are entitled to something, we often forget to say thank you. When a stranger opens a door for us, of course, we say “thank you.” But when family or friends open the door, do we remember to acknowledge their kindness? When G-d every day, faithfully gives us life, do we remember to be grateful everyday?

Our Souls Are Like Hanukkah Candles
__________________________________________________________________ G-d designates a tremendous amount of soul for each person, but each of us must draw the soul into ourselves, like a wick drawing up oil.
__________________________________________________________________ Each of us has only a small amount within of what our soul contains. __________________________________________________________________ G-d evaluates what we do with what we have, and if we merit it, sends more of our souls into us.

A Hanukkah Meditation
When you gaze at the Chanukah candles, contemplate all of the miracles in your life, every day of your life, and thank G-d for each and every one of your miracles, large and small. This is how you make Chanukah your own.
